The OMCPA4 features a slim, more parallel taper at the 12th fret, allowing for a more comfortable playing width up the neck. The bridge spacing is also modified to 2 3/16" – splitting the difference between Martin's two traditional spacings. C.F. Martin & Co. proudly unveils the JDP II, a second collaboration with Martin Clinician and worldwide guitar troubadour, Diane Ponzio. On this, the 5th Anniversary of the highly acclaimed JDP Diane Ponzio Limited Edition model, and the 175th Anniversary of its mother ship, we celebrate by introducing the JDP II, an innovative Martin Jumbo design that truly speaks for itself.

"For over 20 years, I have had the privilege of representing The Martin Guitar Company at clinics, trade shows, in shops and on stages all over the world. What continues to astound me is the enduring quality of Martin craftsmanship and their instantly recognizable tone. I have NEVER met a Martin I didn't like, and more than many that I have loved."

The JDP II, a seeming "plain Jane" in appearance, is anything but in its sonic portrait. Every decision in the construction of this instrument is an exponent of sound and every appointment is dedicated to yielding fabulous tone at maximum volume.

Diane chose the Martin Jumbo body shape — her perennial favorite — because of its tight-waisted profile, which provides even tonal balance, and its Dreadnought depth, which gives it blasting power.

"Recently, I learned firsthand that dwindling natural resources and increased demand from other industries has cast a threatening shadow over the future supply of genuine mahogany. I am convinced that genuine mahogany will one day approximate the rarity of Brazilian rosewood. Mahogany instruments sound much brighter than their rosewood counterparts, and the clarity is rich and distinct. It is for these reasons that I chose genuine mahogany for the back and sides."

Another fascinating timber development Diane has witnessed is the emergence of different species of spruce used on the tops of Martin guitars. For the JDP II, she chose premium Italian alpine spruce.

Adding to the vibrant tone of the JDP II the body is finished with full gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, while the neck's satin sheen allows for fast movement and fretting. Two obvious visual features of this magnificent jumbo are the slotted headstock and large soundhole. Both of these features make the guitar louder; the strings traveling from a slotted headstock to the bridge exert more downward pressure on the nut due to the increased angle, hence, more resonance. The large soundhole is like having a big mouth!

Inspired by the contrasting pearl "sun" rosette of the 0-28 Ian Anderson model, Diane appropriated a similar design using in-house laser cut wood inlays. This process utilizes small pieces of precious wood trim from the Martin factory that are too small to utilize elsewhere in the process. It is one small example of our collective commitment to use wood wisely and continually find new ways to embrace the future of green guitar building.

The handsome Waverly tuners, prized for their precision, add to its beauty, and the tortoise teardrop pickguard, previously used exclusively on Martin OM's, highlights this guitar's simple elegance. The JDP II is an obvious player's choice. Drawing from Diane's rich knowledge of tone woods and "global laps" of experience as a Martin clinician, she has shared her vision by blending classic and contemporary design features to create this unprecedented combination.

Car Talk Click And Clack Special Edition
It began with two brothers and a little do-it-yourself auto repair shop called Hacker's Haven in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It went public in 1977 when the brothers were invited to discuss car repair on Boston public radio station WBUR. It became a national obsession ten years later when National Public Radio (NPR) premiered their freewheeling, slyly subversive and thoroughly addictive show about cars as a nationally syndicated program. It — of course — is "Car Talk" and the brothers are Tom and Ray Magliozzi, known to their listeners as "Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers." In recent years, the "Car Talk" phenomenon has grown to include a syndicated newspaper column, books, website, music CDs, and movies, and soon will expand into television. With Tom and Ray well on their way to world domination, it is only natural that C.F. Martin & Co. introduce a Car Talk Click and Clack Special Edition guitar that captures the duo's sense of fun.

The Martin Car Talk Click and Clack Special Edition is a classic dreadnought, featuring solid tonewoods throughout for full, powerful tone; an Engelmann spruce top, East Indian rosewood back and sides, a low profile neck with diamond volute, as well as a African black ebony fingerboard and belly bridge. A rosette in abalone pearl is matched by a colorful mosaic backstrip. Both the nut and saddle are crafted from genuine bone.

With the irrepressible Magliozzi bothers involved, the Martin Car Talk Click and Clack Special Edition takes a quick right turn into humor. Cartoonist and illustrator Bill Morrison, responsible for much of the artwork on the award-winning "Car Talk" website, has created some amusing designs for this unique instrument. The fun begins on the polished ebony headplate, with — just below the Old Style C.F. Martin decal logo — a mother of pearl inlay of Click and Clack in a dilapidated car trailing parts down the fret board in their wake. Those parts and tools — also inlaid in mother of pearl with thin pearl borders - serve as the fingerboard position markers: fender at the 3rd fret, muffler at the 5th fret, muffler pipe at the 7th fret, battery at the 9th fret, tire at the 12th fret and wrench at the 15th fret. Tom and Ray Magliozzi's signatures appear in pearl at the 20th fret.

Travis Tritt is a country music star with five No. 1 hits, 20 Top 10 hits, 14 albums -- half of which have gone platinum or multi-platinum -- and two Grammy awards to his credit. The artist has played Martin guitars for most of his career and even ordered a Martin custom D-45 when he and fellow country artist Marty Stuart were traveling together on their 1996 “Double Trouble” tour, yet somehow a namesake Martin Limited Edition didn’t materialize at that time.

Fortunately, Tritt is a patient man, and patience has its rewards. To celebrate Travis Tritt’s 25th anniversary in the music business, Martin announces the HDC-40 Travis Tritt Limited Edition guitar.

The HDC-40 Travis Tritt Limited Edition blends a unique body configuration and rare tonewoods for superb playability and sound. The dreadnought features a rounded cutaway with the thinner “000” depth, exceptional premium tonewoods including an Adirondack (red) spruce top matched to 5/16” Adirondack braces, back and sides of rare Madagascar rosewood, and a special modified low oval neck with diamond volute carved from genuine mahogany.

Many of the appointments on the HDC-40 Travis Tritt Limited Edition are drawn directly from Tritt’s personal custom D-45. The Style “45” rosette, like the original, has a center ring of pearl herringbone. The polished and beveled black pickguard features a floral inlay in abalone pearl. Most spectacular of all is the genuine ebony fingerboard, featuring a colorful version of the Vine of Harmonics (created by Martin artist relations manager Dick Boak) inlay in abalone pearl, mother of pearl, and composite, culminating in Tritt’s signature in mother of pearl between the 18th and 19th frets.

The HDC-40 Travis Tritt Limited Edition comes studio- and stage-ready with factory-installed Martin Gold Plus Natural 1 active electronics. Each instrument is delivered in a fitted Martin hardshell case.

Every HDC-40 Travis Tritt Limited Signature Edition guitar bears an interior label personally signed by Travis Tritt and numbered in sequence with the edition total.

The Martin M-42 David Bromberg Signature Edition Acoustic Guitar boasts solid premium tonewoods throughout. Features a rare - especially in this width - Italian alpine spruce top. Back and sides are of East Indian rosewood. A low profile neck of genuine mahogany and fingerboard and bridge of African black ebony complete the guitar. Forward-shifted and scalloped 5/16" top braces provide impressive clarity and dynamic range.

Style 45 appointments abound on this handsome instrument. Style 45 abalone pearl inlay around the top and fingerboard extension are matched by the abalone pearl Style 45 rosette. A Style 45 multicolored mosaic backstrip divides the two-piece back. Bridge pins and endpin both also are Style 45, with abalone dot inlays.

In keeping with the archtop features on Bromberg's original guitar, the M-42 David Bromberg Signature Edition's East Indian rosewood headplate bears a 1930s style C. F. Martin" block letter inlay in abalone pearl and goldplated enclosed tuners with large gold knobs. Style 45 snowflake position markers are centered between F-9 Style white/black/white racing stripe" inlays that run the length of the fingerboard. David Bromberg's signature is inlaid between the 19th and 20th frets.

Classic grained ivoroid binding and elegantly mitered black/white purfling are everywhere on this guitar: top, sides, back, headstock and fingerboard. The grained ivoroid end piece and heelcap display matching fine line inlays. The guitar is finished in polished gloss lacquer, with aging toner on the top to enhance the vintage vibe. A polished and beveled tortoise-color pickguard protects the top. Delivered in a vintage-inspired Geib style case, each M-42 David Bromberg Signature Edition guitar bears an interior label personally signed by David Bromberg and Martin Chairman C. F. Martin IV and is numbered in sequence together with the edition total.

The acoustic-electric 000C-28 Andy Summers Signature Edition Martin guitar features a top with a unique black/white chevron checkered" binding, while the back showcases a Style 45 multicolored back strip with distinctive black fiber borders. Accenting the soundhole is a triple-ring rosette with a central ring of fine herringbone. The back and sides are bound in ivoroid, the latter with mitered black/white fine line purfling. In a salute to Martin history and because the combination looks so elegant a black African ebony pyramid bridge graces the top, but a pickguard does not.

Up the neck, the solid, square tapered headstock combines Martin's antique pressure stamp on the back with an ivoroid-bound, black/white mitered black African ebony headplate inlaid with the Lotus flower, the Buddhist symbol of purity, on the front. The matching ivoroid-bound and mitered black African ebony fingerboard is inlaid in mother of pearl with Buddhist Mudra" (hand gesture) position markers at the 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th and 15th frets, the yin/yang symbol at the 17th fret and Andy Summer's signature between the 19th and 20th frets.

Exquisite premium solid tonewoods add to the beauty of this guitar and contribute to its superb tone. The top is crafted from Italian alpine spruce, renowned for warmth, balance and impressive dynamic range, and matched to 5/16" scalloped bracing for clear definition. East Indian rosewood back and sides add outstanding projection. A one-piece neck of genuine mahogany contributes structural strength and stability.

Several design elements make the 000C-28 Andy Summers Signature Edition a player's delight. The short 24.9" scale, 1-3/4" (at the nut) neck with modified low oval profile and low action allow for easy fretting, even on difficult chords. The 000 cutaway body insures full fingerboard access and playing comfort both sitting and standing (a chrome strap button is installed at the neck heel). Waverly open-geared nickel tuners with butterbean knobs contribute smooth, precise tuning. The factory installed Fishman Ellipse Blend electronics with a mic/under-saddle pickup combination and on-board controls allows effortless amplification.

The crowning touch to the 000C-28 Andy Summers Signature Edition is the finish. Polished gloss lacquer finish on the guitar's body highlights both the elegant appointments and the golden agingtoned top. The headplate likewise features a gloss finish, while the neck receives a satin finish.

Delivered in a Geib-style hardshell case, each Martin 000C-28 Andy Summers Signature Edition guitar bears an interior label personally signed by Andy Summers and Martin Chairman C. F. Martin IV and is numbered in sequence with the edition total. Authorized C. F. Martin dealers will be accepting orders for this guitar until March 20, 2006. After the order period, Martin will post the names of participating Martin dealers on this website.
